Wittle Defender Beginner Guide
Everything a new Wittle Defender player needs to know: which heroes to prioritize, how to build your first team, resource management, and common mistakes to avoid.
Getting Started
Welcome to Wittle Defender. Your first priority is pushing Campaign mode as far as possible โ this unlocks every other system in the game. Join a guild immediately (do not wait), complete every daily quest, and start identifying your main DPS hero early. Do not spread resources across your whole roster. Pick one carry and commit.
Best Early Priorities
Push Campaign to unlock Nightmare mode (around Chapter 80+). Do Star Challenge daily for XP and gold. Do Goblin Ground daily for gold farming. Complete Arena battles for ranking points. Claim all daily shop freebies. Use all stamina โ never let it cap. Join Abyss Crusade as early as possible for progression rewards.
Beginner Hero Investment
For F2P players, Seraph is the best early healer โ available in both Summon Market (weekly) and Boss Market (daily). Buy Seraph every chance you get. For DPS, Scarlet Reaper + Fiery Vanguard is the most accessible fire chain combo. Cheffy + Fiery Vanguard is another F2P-friendly fire chain. Do not invest heavily in Epic or Common heroes โ they fall off quickly.
Team Building Basics
Run a 3-hero team for most content: 1 main DPS + 1-2 supports. Always prioritize chain skill partners โ the damage bonus is massive. Same-element teams unlock more chain combos. Your primary DPS should get all star-up resources first. Every other hero on the team exists to support your carry.
Skill Priorities
Upgrade your main DPS ultimate skill first โ it has the highest damage multiplier. Active abilities come second. Passive effects are lower priority early but scale well later. Focus skill resources on your carry hero before spreading to supports.
Build Priorities
Early game: levels and stars matter more than gear. Do not waste resources upgrading gear before Chapter 80. Once gear unlocks (Legendary III on Growth Path), focus your main DPS gear set. Rune optimization becomes relevant in mid-game โ research the correct sets for your roles.
Resource Management
Save summon tickets โ do not impulse pull. Wait for Rate-Up banners with heroes you need. 200 summons completes one Rate-Up round. Buy only rate-up scrolls and Seraph from the Summon Shop โ skip normal scrolls. In Black Market, buy scrolls only โ that is the only early game value. Every 40 Normal or Rate-Up tickets used gives 1 Xenoscape summon (need 500 total to unlock Xeno banner).
What to Avoid
Do not spread star-up materials across multiple heroes. Do not upgrade temporary gear (you upgrade slots, not items). Do not waste gems on Hero EXP 2h packs (the 8h pack is better value). Do not pull on banners without a plan. Do not ignore Nightmare mode once it unlocks โ it gates Akashic Arbor, which is a massive power spike.
F2P Advice
Seraph from Boss Market daily is your best free investment. Focus one element team (fire is most accessible early). Save rate-up scrolls for S-tier banners. Do every daily without exception. Push Abyss Crusade as far as possible for elite rewards. Participate in every event โ even partial completion gives valuable resources.
Common Beginner Mistakes
Spreading resources across too many heroes. Ignoring chain skill partners. Pulling on every banner instead of saving for rate-ups. Letting stamina cap. Skipping daily quests. Not joining a guild immediately. Investing in low-rarity heroes that fall off. Upgrading gear too early before it matters.
Recommended Next Steps
Once you hit Chapter 80, push Nightmare mode aggressively to unlock Akashic Arbor. Start optimizing rune sets for your main team. Push Abyss Crusade for elite rewards. Begin working on your second team for modes that require multiple squads. Check the Heroes guide and Tier List for current meta picks.
