Wittle Defender Equipment & Gear Guide
Understanding gear systems in Wittle Defender: equipment types, upgrade paths, set bonuses, rune slots, and which gear to prioritize per hero role.
Equipment System
Gear is unlocked after clearing Legendary III on the Growth Path. You equip gear to hero slots โ upgrades apply to the slot, not the gear item itself. This means temporary gear does not need upgrading. Higher starred gear drops from Chapter progression and Boar Hunt. Increasing Boar Hunt difficulty increases rewards and gear quality.
Gear Types & Roles
Weapons and Rings give the most ATK and should be upgraded first on your DPS. Different gear types benefit different heroes. Seraph benefits most from ATK-boosting gear (healing scales off ATK). Ice Demon and Blazing Archer benefit most from HP/DEF gear. High Quality gear has 3 Extra Stats โ save pieces with triple ATK for Seraph.
Upgrade & Refinement
Gear upgrades occur in 10-level intervals using Gear Enchanite (from Boar Hunt AFK rewards, Black Market, and offers). Gear refinement occurs in 5-level intervals using Azure Essence (from Boar Hunt Boss Ranking and Boss Completion). Once refined to Lv.4, the 10x Refinement option unlocks for bulk upgrading. Gear level cap and refinement limit were increased with new master stats.
EX Weapons Deep Dive
Exclusive Weapons unlock at 3 Star for Mythic+ heroes (4 Star for Xeno). They grant additional DMG bonus at levels 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. Primal and Energy glyphs fuse or salvage at 6:1 ratio. Both glyph types are available in Guild Shop. Void Witch EX-Weapon was enhanced in v1.1.4.19. Fiery Vanguard EX-Weapon at Lv.20 and Lv.50 additionally reduces enemy Fire RES.
Rune System
Runes unlock after 6 days of playing and clearing Chapter 27. Farm runes from Runic Plains โ higher difficulty tiers drop better rarity runes. Key farming locations: Frostbear Hollow (Unshaken Will, Illusive Flurry), Eroded Tomb (Divine Revival), Stormfang Nest (Divine Grace, Arcane Flood). Always prioritize percentage-based rune stats over flat base stats. Sublime Rune Level 1 to 15 costs 25,990 Dust and 775,000 Gold total.
Sigils & Emblems
Sigils provide conditional bonuses (like HP<50% triggers Heal +10%). Xeno heroes get approximately 3x sigil stat per investment โ prioritize Xeno sigils. Emblems were expanded in recent updates with increased purchase limits. Both systems provide meaningful stat gains in mid-to-late game that should not be ignored.
