Hero Investment Priority Guide โ Where to Spend Your Resources
A complete priority framework for investing hero resources in Wittle Defender. Covers star-up order, essence spending, and long-term planning.
How Hero Investment Works
Hero investment in Wittle Defender has multiple layers: star-up progression (copies + elemental essence), skill card upgrades, gear and rune allocation, sigil investment, and EX weapon development. Each layer compounds. A hero with good stars but wrong runes will underperform a lower-star hero with perfect runes. This guide covers all layers in order of impact.
Star-Up Priority
Star progression order: โ 1-5 โ Moon 1-5 โ Diamond 1-5 โ Immortal 1-17. Critical breakpoints: SW at 3 Diamond unlocks her full power. PD at 1 Diamond shares CRIT Rate team-wide (massive). AA at 3 Stars already provides strong team buffs. PC + Lich need 3+ Stars each to run the combo effectively. NT needs 3+ Stars to become properly S-tier. Always star-up your carry FIRST before spreading resources.
Skill Card Priority
Skill card priority follows the awakening progression: Awakening-1 โ Awakening-2 โ Awakening-3 โ Awakening-Core (this transforms the skill) โ White-1 โ White-2 โ ATK60-1 (+60% DMG) โ ATK60-2 (+60% DMG) โ Blue-1 โ Blue-2 โ Blue-3. Focus cards on your main carry first. The Awakening-Core and ATK60 upgrades are the biggest power spikes โ prioritize reaching them on your DPS hero.
Rune Investment Priority
Rune priority by role: DPS heroes get runes first. Supports get runes second. Passive slot heroes get runes last (or never). Key rules: NEVER equip DEF% runes anywhere โ DEF equals 0 by design. CRIT Rate runes are wasted on Robot โ he guarantees CRIT via blue Evo. Divine Revival (6pc) is the #1 DPS rune set. Frost Lich uses 6x Divine Revival. Slot main stats as: Role DMG%, ATK%, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG%. Never put a flat stat in a percentage slot.
Sigil & Emblem Priority
Xeno heroes receive approximately 3x sigil stat per investment compared to other rarities. This means Xeno sigils have an extreme ROI advantage โ prioritize them. Sigil investment order: SW sigils โ other Xeno sigils โ S-tier Mythic sigils โ rest. Emblems provide additional flat bonuses โ upgrade them when you have spare resources. Both systems provide meaningful endgame gains.
EX Weapon Priority
EX Weapons unlock at 3 Star for Mythic heroes, 4 Star for Xeno heroes. They provide big damage boosts at levels 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. Invest EX weapon resources in your main DPS first. Glyph types (Primal and Energy) are both available in the Guild Shop. Reset option exists if you want to reallocate. Star-up option added December 2025 for further scaling.
Resource Allocation Framework
Week 1-4: All resources to SW and one carry hero (SR+VG fire combo for F2P). Month 2-3: Expand to AA + FL or PD. Begin building toward NT+PC+Lich. Month 4-6: Start investing in Panda or LA once available. Endgame: Full S-tier roster with optimized runes, sigils, emblems, and EX weapons.
